For more than 75 years, the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) is a premier arts institution in Singapore, renowned for our exemplary curricula, innovative teaching approach, and diverse artistic creations. Since 1999, NAFA has received polytechnic-level funding from the Ministry of Education, Singapore, and in 2011, the Academy became the first comprehensive arts education institution to receive the coveted 4-year EduTrust certification awarded by the Council for Private Education.


NAFA currently has eight Departments: 3D Design, Arts Management and Education, Design and Media, Fine Art, Fashion Studies, Dance, Music and Theatre. The Academy conducts a comprehensive range of full-time diploma courses and delivers degree programmes in partnership with reputable universities from Singapore and the UK. Courses are taught by an international faculty of academics and leading arts practitioners who are passionate about imparting lifelong skills in the arts. Courses are designed to enable students to think critically, creatively and independently and at the same time master important technical skills in a disciplined and structured pace. Engagement and partnerships with industry, the arts community and cultural organisations are regular features and part of the learning process to help our students acquire a repertoire of complex skills-set and knowledge.



NAFA thrives on diversity and welcomes a culturally diverse student population from Asia and beyond. Our students are sought after by arts organisations and the creative industry. Numerous alumni have gone on to make an impact in their diverse fields of practice. The Academy has groomed 12 Cultural Medallion recipients, Singapore’s highest accolade bestowed to arts practitioners who have made significant impact in the arts and culture, and 13 Young Artist Award winners.

NAFA And The Royal College of Music, London Launch The Bachelor Of Music (Honours) Degree Course In Singapore
The first arts education institution in the world to collaborate in this way with the Royal College of Music, London, founded in 1882

The Bachelor of Music (Honours) [BMus (Hons)] Degree course to be offered at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), in collaboration with the Royal College of Music, London (RCM), was officially launched in April 2011 at the NAFA campus by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. This is the first publicly-funded degree programme to be launched at an Arts Institution following 2010’s National Day Rally announcement of the Ministry of Education's (MOE) funding for new high-quality degree programmes. This collaboration also marks the first time that the RCM is   conferring its degrees outside the UK.

Prime Minister Lee and Dr Ng Eng Hen, then-Minister for Education, witnessed the official signing of the collaboration agreement between NAFA President Mr Choo Thiam Siew and RCM Director Professor Colin Lawson.
